I would rather have multiple regions of varying art, terrain, foliage, architecture than one large tundra region which gets pretty boring to look at after 30 odd hours (excluding the final oasis type area before end game). For me the approach Bioware took was a better design choice - in my opinion (acknowledging Skyrim had more technical limitations on last gen consoles as well). Bioware's approach makes more sense - I'm more likely to stay in a region for longer than a house or headquarters. Come out and head to the thieves guild via the tombstone - another loading screen!! Then you spend 15 minutes there picking up and returning quests and have to sit through the loading screens again. Loading screen at gates, walk round a bit, loading screen in my property. Let's take a typical saunter into Riften for example. I know not everyone likes the approach of the hub, but is it any different to Skyrim? Isn't it just a differing approach to the same problem. The times in Skyrim I found myself in a barren field with nothing about was countless. I'm not really sure if anyone has done a proper calculation, but the sum of Inquisition's regions feels bigger than Skyrim. As such, you have to sacrifice certain things (like the hub design) and have loading screens. Each with their own lore and history that's more accessible and memorable. Inquisition feels much more like a world because there are different regions. I never really think of Skyrim as a 'world', it felt more like a region that had been over expanded.

So that's not really part of my assessment on the immersion of the games - nor are mods for the reason I played both on Sony's consoles. I just have a preference so see my character, his/her gear and have a wider perspective on the environment I'm in. I've got 32 hours clocked on Inquisition so far and am loving it so not sure when I'll retire from that.įirstly, I should say that first person does nothing for me in these types of games.

I reckon if it had been on PC and I had access to mods instead of the PS3 version I would have put more in. I had 96 hours clocked in Skyrim on PS3 and got the platinum. Which makes gaming awesome.īut to answer the question. I wouldn't want any of them to go away in favor of the other. I'm perfectly fine with all of them existing. I don't think any of them are necessarily "better" overall. The Witcher 3 looks to fall in the middle of the two. All those things, stealth, stealing, objects that move.

Just not as good as Skyrim.Īs for the world. Theres just more to do in terms of stealing, stealth, magic etc. I prefered being able to use any weapon I want in Skyrim. They should have had online co op(for the campaign) with all the worlds being connected. I kind of wished Dragon Age didn't split everything up the way it did.
